Our restaurant offers a range of dining experiences inspired by the rich culture of Jerusalem and our Palestinian heritage. The Restaurant features a distinctive design, with one half boasting a traditional ceiling and the other half an innovative receding roof. During summer nights, the roof opens up, allowing guests to dine under the stars and enjoy the cool evening breeze. Brilliant family-run hotel
I love this hotel. The rooms are individual and quirky with lots of Palestinian heritage touches. The staff are mega friendly and great at remembering regular guests. The menu is reasonable and portions are large but do ask about specials, which are often for one night only. There steps from street level to the restaurant and then to both bedroom floors so folk with mobility issues may struggle but the hotel will assist if they can I really recommend giving the hotel a try or, at least, having a meal there

Very atmospheric in a great location, room and breakfast could be better
I really wanted to like this place after reading all the great reviews here but came away with slightly mixed feelings. On the plus side, it is a beautiful old building, and the location is fabulous, just a few minutes walk from the Damascus Gate (the entry into the most interesting part of the old city) and the nearby light rail stop. My room felt a bit tired and in need of an upgrade though - a decent coffee machine and real cups rather than disposable ones would be a good start. Staff were pleasant enough but didn't go out of their way to be helpful. There's a nice airy restaurant on the ground floor, but in a country with such fabulous food pretty much everywhere you go, I thought the breakfast left a lot to be desired, and for that reason I didn't attempt any other meals here. I was travelling alone and for a place to lay my head at night, it was perfectly fine and a reasonable price, but it wasn't a place that I wanted to linger in. If I were back in Jerusalem with my family I'd forego the atmosphere and look for something a bit more modern.

Safe haven in uncertain times
We stayed in this lovely family hotel when war broke out on October 7, 2023. In retrospect, we couldn't have wished for a better, sweeter and safer place. The hotel is located in the Arab part of Jerusalem, about 200 meters from the Damascus Gate, the entrance to the Old City, which is sacred to all religions. Already at check-in, owner Raed told us about the special history of the hotel. Now it is a small-scale family hotel with an excellent restaurant and great staff. Even though we got a small room, it was cozy and comfortable. A few days later we received a free upgrade to a beautiful and spacious room with a balcony at the back. On our third morning the world turned upside down. Air raid sirens, explosions in the air. Israel was suddenly at war again after 50 years. The already large police force in and around the old city center was tripled. During our (extended) stay that followed, a close bond developed between the staff and the guests from different countries. Pleasant conversations, mutual support, pampered by the staff. Who also had their own concerns. Employees from the now closed West Bank were suddenly no longer able to come. Sometimes the old city center is closed off and employees who live there cannot come. The restaurant continued to operate and also received guests from hotels without restaurants in the evening. All kudos! Occasionally tourists left and were replaced by Western (and Dutch) war reporters. Conversations with them reinforced our sense of reasonable security in this part of Jerusalem. The hotel owner did absolutely everything for his guests. Printed out visas for Jordan, called border posts, guided guests and, above all, had good conversations with us. We were eventually able to return to our safe country, but our hearts are with these wonderful people. We are still in touch and will definitely come back!

Superb right across the board
Excellent. Room was cool with the air con, food was exceptional, and the cleaning lady, Juliette, was superb. All made me feel very welcome and treated you like family. Would recommend to anyone wanting a hotel near to old city. Keep up the good work!

Excellent stay!
This cute little hotel is only a block from the Garden Tomb and a couple of blocks from the walled Old City. The place is family-owned-- I stayed with a friend prior to our tour of the holy land-she stays here often and recommended it highly. It was so quaint and the rooms were very nice. The bed was super comfy. Even on the street, my room was quiet. Their morning breakfast was delish as were the dinners we ate there. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Jerusalem.

Holiday in Israel: 4 days in Jerusalem
Hotel-restaurant located 100 meters from Damascus Gate and the bus station. Easily accessible by public transport. It is a typical structure (not modern to be clear) in Arab style. Decent sized room, clean and bathroom with shower. Even though it faced the street, the night was quiet. The breakfast was excellent, especially when it came to savory foods. Available to bring forward the time. We used the restaurant twice, they offer classic Israeli dishes (hummus and falafel) but also good alternatives at a fair price. I would like to point out the extreme courtesy of all the staff from the waiters, to the people at the reception and a special applause to the lady who also spoke a discreet and very kind Italian (with a gift at the end of the stay). Good value for money

Dirty and No Value for Money
Dirty and run down. The place needs a deep clean. Expected a better and more comfortable experience for a $130/night stay. The female staff was rude and unwelcoming. Room was unclean and still had litter from previous guests, which was still there after I left 3 days later. Towels are not changed and not toiletries were provided on 2nd and 3rd days. Very conveniently located to Damascus Gate, the souk, Al Aqsa Mosque, American Colony Hotel, the bus station to Bethlehem, etc.
