Lecture-Performance*
by Samah Hijawi
Wednesday 21 March
Al Ma'mal, New Gate
Old City, Jerusalem
6.30 pm
Based on an exploration of the representation of the homeland in art history, Samah has been experimenting with ways to narrate art history from a personal perspective, as a way to think critically of the images and the representations that we inherit. Taking into account that history in itself is a contested field, this presentation explores the potential of humour, reality and fiction, as well as popular stories, to unpack these issues through the subjective position.
Samah is a PhD researcher in art practice at the Academie Royale Des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles, and ULB.
*The lecture-performance is in Arabic and will be for 25 minutes.
